The Tide

I could hear your heart beating,

In the waves on the shore,

And as they crashed on the coast,

I felt time freezing more.

Struggling to interpret,

Suffocation from drowning’s appeal,

Because at the hands of you,

Both these cravings are real.

I could sit in the chill all night,

As the waves took with them my mistakes.

But I prayed of all of them, the sea

Would leave you here, to stay.
