Blogmas Day #13: Taylor Swift

Note: this post was posted a day late because for some reason it didn’t post when scheduled oops!

Happy Blogmas Day 13! And happy birthday to Taylor Swift!!

I have been a huge fan of Taylor since forever; my friends and I go to almost every single one of her concerts. I know most people either love her or completely despise her, but no matter you opinions on her music you gotta admit that she is a literary wizard. All of her songs have hidden meanings. She is a contemporary artist in her own right, and that deserves to be celebrated.

So here are my favorite Taylor Swift lines, I hope you like them!

“And time, is taking its sweet time erasing you
And you’ve got your demons, and darling they all look like me”

–Sad Beautiful Tragic

“Long handwritten note, deep in your pocket,
Words, how little they mean, when you’re a little too late.
I stood right by the tracks, your face in a locket,
Good girls, hopeful they’ll be and long they will wait.”

-Sad Beautiful Tragic

“So, I’ll watch your life in pictures like I used to watch you sleep,
And I feel you forget me like I used to feel you breathe,
And I keep up with our old friends just to ask them how you are,
Hope it’s nice where you are.”

-Last Kiss

“Loving him is like driving a new Maserati down a dead-end street,
Faster than the wind, passionate as sin ending so suddenly.
Loving him is like trying to change your mind once you’re already flying through the free fall,
Like the colors in autumn, so bright just before they lose it all.

Losing him was blue like I’d never known.
Missing him was dark grey all alone.
Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never met
But loving him was red
Loving him was red”

-Red

Time won’t fly, it’s like I’m paralyzed by it,
I’d like to be my old self again, but I’m still trying to find it.

-All Too Well

“Don’t blame me, love made me crazy
If it doesn’t, you ain’t doin’ it right.
Lord, save me, my drug is my baby,
I’ll be usin’ for the rest of my life.”

-Don’t Blame Me

“X marks the spot where we fell apart.” –Getaway Car

“Maybe we got lost in translation, maybe I asked for too much,
And maybe this thing was a masterpiece ’til you tore it all up.”

-All Too Well

“Thinking all love ever does is break and burn and end,
But on a Wednesday in a cafe I watched it begin again”

-Begin Again

“Don’t lose the way that you dance around in your p.j.s getting ready for school.

Oh, darling don’t you ever grow up”

-Never Grow Up

“I’m alone, on my own, and that’s all I know
I’ll be strong, I’ll be wrong, oh but life goes on
Oh I’m alone, on my own, and that’s all I know
Oh I’m just a girl, trying to find a place in this world”

-A Place in this World

“So here I am in my new apartment,
In a big city, they just dropped me off.
It’s so much colder than I thought it would be,
So I tuck myself in and turn my nightlight on.”

-Never Grow Up

“He said, “Look at you worrying too much about things you can’t change
You’ll spend your whole life singing the blues if you keep thinking that way”
He was trying to skip rocks on the ocean saying to me
“Don’t you see the starlight, starlight?
Don’t you dream impossible things?”

-Starlight
“My castle crumbled overnight,
I brought a knife to a gunfight.
They took the crown, but it’s alright.
All the liars are calling me one.
Nobody’s heard from me for months.
I’m doing better than I ever was.”

-Call It What You Want

“But I took your matches,
Before fire could catch me,
So don’t look now,
I’m shining like fireworks,
Over your sad empty town.”

-Dear John

“I hit you like bang, we tried to forget it, but we just couldn’t,
And I bury hatchets, but I keep maps of where I put ’em.
Reputation precedes me, they told you I’m crazy,
I swear I don’t love the drama, it loves me”

-End Game

“Don’t read the last page,
But I stay when it’s hard or it’s wrong or you’re making mistakes.
I want your midnights,
But I’ll be cleaning up bottles with you on New Year’s Day.”
