writing

fleeting

Take my hand,

And we’ll dance across the coast.

Leaving behind

Empty coffee cups,

Two pairs of footprints,

And laughter in the shaking of the trees.

Hold me tight,

And we’ll watch the sunset.

Leaving a mark

In the hot sand,

With the memory of

Two pairs of crinkled blue eyes.

Take my hand,

And we’ll talk till dawn

Tracing the words

That we want to remember

Along our skin

Never be washed away by the ocean.

Hold me tight,

Take my picture in your mind,

Framing the actions,

And the metaphors

That we were

The kings and queens of our world.

Take my heart,

It’s resting on my sleeve,

And when the light

Becomes extinguished,

Hold me close,

As the water sweeps us away.
